Wet Confetti: Maryland Wedding Photographer
I don’t even know where to start with this beautiful wedding. I met Mike and Kasey almost 2 years ago at a Bridal show. A year later they called to book their wedding. I was so excited to hear from them and also pretty excited that they would contact me after all that time. If you missed their beautiful golden hour engagement session, you should check it out here. Ok so back to the wedding day. Some might start this post by saying, unfortunately it rained. But I wouldn’t because despite some rain or “wet confetti” as I’ve decided to call it, this wedding was phenomenal. And I know in my heart that it was so great because of the two people getting married. They are two of the sweetest people I have ever met. I think the best problem for a wedding photographer to have is the inability to choose which photos to blog because there are so many to choose from. I am faced with that very dilemma today. Mike and Kasey are on their honeymoon and I’ll be doing their Sesion Premiere in the next few weeks. After that, I’ll be sure to add some more photos here. So make sure you like my Facebook page to hear when the new photos are up.
This wedding was full of some very special details. The bride’s pin on her dress belonged to her great-grandmother. Not only is it a beautiful pin but it was purchased many many years ago before Kasey was even a whisper for her parents. And the pin is the monogram MK (as in Mike and Kasey). Pretty cool! Kasey also has a ring that belonged to her grandmother and great-grandmother. Their initials and wedding date are engraved inside. Mike and Kasey’s initials will be added after the wedding. A bible and a special handkerchief round out the sweet collection. The mirror Kasey’s dress is hanging on belongs to her aunt. Kasey made the favors for their guests- homemade jam (and I can attest that it is delish!)in beautiful personalized jars. Mike and Kasey planted sunflowers in the backyard of their home (the location of the wedding) specifically for a lovely photo backdrop. They planned it just right as they were in beautiful bloom just in time for the wedding. While we did have “wet confetti” most of the day, the sun did come out for a few minutes allowing us some great shots with the flowers. It’s hard to tell in those pictures that there was any rain at all. I have to thank Lorinda from NoLo Weddings and Events for keeping an eye on the radar for me and letting me know when we’d have a few minutes of sun. And although they didn’t get used, Mike built custom corn-hole boards with their name and wedding date. (I mean really? How fun are they?) Oh and I can’t forget that Kasey’s mom steamed every piece of linen in that tent by hand and her grandmother made the adorable napkin rings, using a shower curtain ring that she covered and then added a silk sunflower to each one. Oh and I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the lovely flower balls that hung from the ceiling of the tent. Kasey put those together herself and had a favorite in the bunch. The morning of the wedding when Mike was getting those flower balls hung he said he made sure to hang her favorite one right above the dance floor so Kasey could see it all night long (love that!). Kasey and Mike’s God-Mothers were the ones to “oversee” the Apron dance and at the end of the anniversary dance, Kasey and Mike’s grandparents were the only couples left and we had a combined 200+ years of marriage on the floor (Wow!) Something tells me there will be no shortage of role models for a good marriage for Mike and Kasey.
The ceremony was short and sweet but very well done by a friend of Kasey and Mike. The bridal party was so much fun. Mike’s brother Jordan gave the one of the best BestMan speeches I have ever heard. We were even treated to a song during the reception by Mike’s sister Paige (what a beautiful voice)! And speaking of singing at the reception- I have to give a shout out to the DJ. Chris of Mix Masters Entertainment was incredible. The dance floor was packed all night long. Seriously, if you are looking for a DJ- call him!
Ok enough talk, now for the pictures. Mike and Kasey I hope you guys are having an awesome time on your honeymoon. I can’t wait for your Session Premiere and I hope you love looking at your sneak peek!
